#### Education

I received my B.S. in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Texas in 2011 and my Master's Degree in Orbital Mechanics in 2013. I am currently pursuing a Ph.D in Computational Science, Engineering, and Mathematics.#### Experience

My name is Travis and I am a graduate student in Computational Science, Engineering and Math at UT Austin. As an undergraduate engineering student, I performed very well in all my physics, calculus, differential equations, and statistics courses. As a tutor, I embrace the challenge of meeting each new student where they are and taking them to the next level of understanding. I am most comfortable tutoring mathematics, but I can tutor physics and computer programming as well. I am excited to start working with you!-----------------------------------------------------------

Experience:

I was an undergraduate tutor at the engineering study tables in Calculus, Physics I and II, and Differential Equations. Also, I've been a teaching assistant in the Aerospace Engineering department at UT for 3 semesters. For the past year I have tutored 6-8 hours per week.

-----------------------------------------------------------

Relevant scores:

800 SAT math

800 GRE math

3.9/4.0 GPA in Aerospace Engineering

-----------------------------------------------------------

What to expect:

Expect a dedicated tutor who will ensure your success in whatever subject you're trying to conquer. In addition, I see each tutoring session as an opportunity to not only improve knowledge of the particular subject at hand but also to improve study habits, enhance independent learning skills, and mitigate test anxieties. By doing so, my students gain self-confidence they can carry with them to other academic disciplines.

Expect me to ask you for some problems and/or topics you would like to cover before each tutoring session. This allows me to prepare for each meeting appropriately so that our time together is as cost-effective and productive for the student as possible.

-----------------------------------------------------------

#### Hobbies

I love running and cycling, and I enjoy playing guitar, singing, and songwriting. On the weekends I try to catch some of the live music shows throughout Austin.### Client Reviews (11)

Travis was able to help me enormously while studying for my GRE. I have been out of school for 16 years working as a registered nurse. Having a crazy plan to return to grad school at 45 and needing to do well on the GRE which includes a ton of high school and college math concepts seemed impossible but Travis was able to help me understand the toughest concepts and I got the score I needed! Travis was flexible with scheduling, important for me, able to change things on short notice and on time. He also had helpful suggestions about materials and was unfazed by any concepts including pictures taken off my phone of practice test problems that stumped me. He is very calm, flexible and encouraging and really helped me feel as if I could do well on this standardized test even after many years away from school. I highly recommend!!!

I worked with Travis on 06/24/13, and I found Travis to be very easy to work with and very helpful, too! He made time for our tutoring session right away, and we were able to get all I needed done within one session! He clearly knows his stuff, and I found the cost of tutoring and ease of scheduling to be extremely worth it – convenience is what I needed, as a busy person!!! Fortunately, I am DONE with all math related courses, but I would highly recommend Travis, as a tutor to anyone who needs help with any math related courses. FYI, Travis helped me with a statistics course.

I would highly recommend Travis for any type of math tutoring a high school or college student might be looking for. I have met with him several times over the course of my preparation for the GRE math section. Travis not only conveys the material in a clear, direct manner, but he also manages to do so in terms that do not require or assume any background in the subject. As an English major, I find this strategy both helpful and pleasant. I would definitely go back to Travis if I were studying for another exam that involved math.

Travis is an excellent tutor in every way. He is responsive, prompt and terrifically smart. He communicates in a calm and effective manner that boosts confidence and gets the job done easily. Our “all-A” 9th grader was struggling with pre-AP Geometry, which we now know stems from poor instruction: a session with Travis “solves the problem” each time. Highly skilled, personable and dedicated – we wish he taught at our high school!

I reached out to Travis at the very end of the semester when we decided that my son needed help studying for his high school Algebra II final. Travis came through for us! He promptly scheduled two review sessions (as he was finishing his own finals), was right on time, and explained what my son had been missing in a way that he could understand. Travis is very personable and clearly very adept in helping students understand math concepts. We would call on him again in a heartbeat!

Travis is a great tutor! He is incredibly patient and kind and always makes sure you understand the subject completely. I highly recommend him as a math tutor; his teaching methods took my math anxiety away and helped me address my major weaknesses prior to taking the GRE. He is also really great at explaining combinatorics!
