Private tutor in Austin, TX
Education
University of Wisconsin, La Crosse - BA, Sociology, Spanish
Experience
I majored in Spanish and sociology at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. I have loved Spanish since I began learning it as a high school freshman. Ever since then I have been tutoring students in the subject. I have tutored several other subjects as well with students in kindergarten through the 12th grade. I understand the value of tutoring, and am passionate about helping others by working with them to grasp a subject they don't understand because I have been in that position myself. Math was hard for me until I got extra help, after which I liked it and even chose it as my major for a time. My tutoring experience began in high school and continued through college and during summers. Besides helping underclassmen at my school, I have tutored with Upward Bound and with the Restorative Justice program of the YMCA. At the latter I worked on cognitive skill building with students from middle school and high school. Now that I am graduated from college, I plan to settle in Austin, Texas, which I first visited while interning in my senior year of college. The mild winters, healthy economy, wonderful food, and friendly folk are what has attracted me to this place.
