Experience
I received my Bachelor of Arts in English from San Francisco State. I recently decided to move to Austin in order to get my master's degree in ethnomusicology. Before moving to Austin, I lived in Washington, D.C., where I completed an internship at the Smithsonian Museum's nonprofit record label. I came to find tutoring a very rewarding and fulfilling thing to do. I have taught a variety of students from many different backgrounds. The main subjects that I tutor in are English and Writing. I am very experienced with the writing process, from the nitty-gritty level of commas to the outlining and creation of an essay. I'm also able to assist students who are taking AP-level courses in English, Macroeconomics, Microeconomics, and U.S. History, and I enjoy helping students prepare for the SAT.I have always enjoyed the one-on-one aspect of tutoring and the ability to hone in on what a student may need. I believe it is important to break down the writing process down to its fundamentals. This allows the student's confidence to grow and for them to truly master the subject. I believe in fostering a positive and supportive environment with my clients, as I have seen how intimidated some students are with the writing process. In my spare time, I enjoy listening to music, reading, appreciating art, and running.
