Experience
I graduated from the University of Wisconsin at Madison with a BA in Legal Studies and Sociology. My focus was on qualitative methodologies. I became a project manager for a company that specialized in software for the medical industry. Later, I worked as a case manager for an arbitration firm located in Washington D.C. As a doctoral candidate I teach courses at the University of Texas - Austin to promote analytical skills, critical thinking, and reading. I help my pupils develop good communication skills and other skills that will help them succeed in their chosen fields. I began tutoring in high school, helping my fellow classmates who were first generation immigrants and from poorer communities. I teach ESL students. I think one of my advantages as a teacher is my ability to find the student's level of learning and proceed from there. My belief is that learning must be available to all. I am an enthusiastic and encouraging teacher and I strive to help each student attain their potential and their goals.I tutor in math from elementary math through algebra 1 and geometry. I also tutor in literature, essay writing and editing for all grade levels including college, sociology, social studies, and English. I teach AP classes such as US government and English literature. I do teach additional subjects, including test prep for the SAT.
