Experience

I'm a native Japanese language trainer / tour guide. I teach private Japanese lessons in Austin, TX, and online. And, I host a weekly conversation group in south Austin and teach beginner and intermediate classes every weekend. I use a textbook that I wrote called Japanese For Dogs that is available on Amazon. For more info please go to my site or contact me. https://japanesefordogs.com/ I've been living in the US for almost 20 years and I am fully bilingual. Because I learned English both in school and outside school, I know what works and what does NOT work in learning a foreign language in school. When I teach Japanese, I use the same method I used to learn English so my students can actually speak as well as read and write like how native Japanese people do. And, that is what I specialize in. I have experience in tutoring Japanese for over 10 years. I am very confident in my teaching system. I approach it from all angles - reading, writing, and speaking. With my teaching system some of my students with no prior experience with Japanese have been able to write their own journal entries in a few months. Many Japanese people think they have been learning the language for a few years because their Japanese accents are so good. I specialize in the English accent reduction. Many students tend to get nervous during the lessons because they don't want to make mistakes. But, the more nervous they get, the less they learn. So, I make all of them a few good laughs in my lessons, which helps them immensely. My lessons are fun! One of the main things that make me an effective teacher is the fact I'm a performing/recording musician/band leader. I know how musicians practice for weeks before they get on stage, and when they get on stage, poof, they forget 60% of what they learned. The speaking a new language is the same thing! Many people get nervous and forget what they've learned. So, I make my students repeat the same things over and over till they become second nature. That's how we speak our first languages. I also have experience in translating Japanese movies, software, video games, websites, and legal documents, all of which have helped me with accuracy in teaching the language to the English speakers and the ability to explain the confusing part of the language. I do many different types of translation / interpretation. Various discounts available for monthly/group rates. https://japanesefordogs.com/
