Experience
I am a tutor with extensive experience teaching English as a second language. While teaching ESL is my passion, I'm also able to work with students on their Spanish, writing, reading, and literature. I also do SAT test prep. I received degrees in English and Spanish from Smith College. After graduating I went on to earn my Teaching English as a Foreign Language certificate. I traveled to Shanghai, China where I taught ESL to elementary school, middle school, and high school students. I've also worked with a national governmental organization as an ESL tutor for Spanish immigrants. As an ESL teacher I work with students on grammar, conversational speech, American culture, and other aspects of the English language. I have a knack for language - I'm fluent in Spanish, and I've studied Mandarin Chinese, Romanian, French, Arabic, Korean, and Portuguese. As a tutor I work hard to develop an engaging connection with my students so that they feel comfortable expressing themselves. When I'm not tutoring or studying language I enjoy reading, poetry, karaoke, and traveling. I'm also very active whether through horseback riding or roller skating. When I lived in Shanghai I was on a roller derby team.
