I have worked in a variety of settings with children: I was an au pair in Germany, a babysitter in high school, and in college I tutored a professor's daughter in 3rd grade math. I've also lead art classes with children. I have worked as a tutor to students in college, primarily in writing and editing. I was also a teacher's assistant in an introductory poetry workshop. Everyone learns differently - and that's what makes teaching and tutoring so fun for me. It isn't about the material, but about how you make it interesting or relevant to the student. Hobbies

I am a musician and an artist. I have lived abroad a number of years in the past, and moved back to the states recently. I know a little German, French, Greek, and Spanish. I have published poems in a number of literary magazines (my own publication is also forthcoming), and lately I have begun to learn how to DJ and make my own music. Creativity is how I learned to be confident and express myself, and I find it to be one of the greatest skills to recognize in a child - I hope that I can instill this in the tutoring process, so that certain topics are made more relevant, simple and interesting.
