I’ve been working as a history tutor for 10 years already. I like my job and my students. As for me, successful study largely depends on atmosphere at the lesson. If we have good mood and emotions, it is much simpler to think about the question and understand ways to find answers. I like people and I like history so it inspires me to be in this field. Who is a good tutor? Is it a person who just gives students some information? –I doubt about that. No, you can find it by yourself in books and internet. Is it a person who can explain meaning of different events and facts? – Not exactly, because there are so many opinions about key events. As for me, the main purpose of our work – is to help students to make their own reasonable vision and feel confidence in it. It is also very important not only to know facts, but also to be able to conduct them into interconnected chains, so this knowledge can be useful in real life problems. What purposes of studying history do we have? 1. It is interesting 2. It can help us understand today’s events But, we can lose both purposes if to look at studying only with objective to remember some facts. As for me, we should look at history like at a fun game, in which we consider past problems of different rulers and try to solve them. It is very interesting to make your own decisions about important questions and to compare them with the vision of the kings, governments … This way of studying really helps not only remember facts, but also, what is more important, to use knowledge in real life situations.
