Experience

Over 10 years of tutoring experience in all Math and Science subjects at almost every level. I received my undergraduate from UC Berkeley and my Master's degree from UCSF. I've also tutored numerous standardized testing subjects such as SAT, ACT, GRE, and MCAT. I believe I am a qualified tutor, because I am passionate about tutoring as a result of my wide array of experiences. I take pleasure in teaching, because I find that as a tutor I am able to more clearly articulate what I always had trouble understanding from a professor or teacher that was much older than me. As teaching methods evolve and develop, I find more and more that the teachers who have a good grasp of student's interests and difficulties are best able to help their students achieve a higher level of learning. I strongly believe in teaching through the Socratic method, as I found this had worked best for my own learning. As a private tutor, I relish on the personal one-on-one experience that is a much greater enhancement from traditional classroom learning. I believe that my knowledge of a broad expanse of subjects from elementary to advanced levels will aid in my flexibility and availability for a diverse array of prospective students. I have never had any complaints with my past students, as I am a dedicated, patient, and engaging teacher. I am committed to the people I teach and always strive to conduct myself in a professional manner that fosters curiosity and learning. Currently, I work at IBM training a supercomputer called Watson in the biomedical sciences! I guess you could say I tutor Watson. :D Test Scores: GRE: 1470; Math: 800(94th Percentile), Verbal 670(95th Percentile) MCAT: 34T (91st Percentile) Breakdown: Physical Sciences 13 (97th Percentile) Verbal 10, Life Sciences 11 (88th Percentile) Writing: T (99.6th Percentile) SAT: 2100 (95th Percentile) Please note: My hourly rate is negotiable, depending on the distance of travel
