I am a tutor who specializes in math. I offer tutoring in Algebra 1 and 2, Pre-Calculus, Calculus 1, and Trigonometry. My particular style of instruction tends to be one of thorough approach. I believe in the importance of developing a student's mathematical skills. It is also important that they comprehend mathematical ideas so that that they do not have any doubts in their own ability. It is my goal to help them understand the process. I prefer to teach my students the "why" behind mathematical formulas instead of just the "how." I do not want them to just apply a formula to solve a problem, but I want to them to be able to understand the process involved and why it works. I believe this will help foster confidence in the students' ability to use and understand math. I hope that they grow to appreciate math and perhaps even love it. This belief has been shaped over the years as I have homeschooled my three boys. I have worked as a Trigonometry supplemental instructor for UTA, as well as being a Calculus recitation coach at the University of North Texas. I have also taught Fundamentals of Algebra at the graduate level (also at the University of North Texas). In my free time, I enjoy music, particularly harpsichord, piano, and organ performances. I am also a computer programmer in ColorForth.
