Learning math is a process of gaining conceptual understanding that can be demonstrated through being able to independently solve math problems. On any given skill, I try to determine where the student is in the process and bring him/her through this process. I see the process moving from explanation and demonstration through guided practice to independent problem solving, continually checking for understanding along the way.
