I like to work with students on their writing skills. Having good writing skills is a crucial part of the learning picture, if you can not write well and you're having problems with reading comprehension, you are behind the eight ball from the start. After attending Binghamton University and Stony Brook University, I am currently pursuing a Curriculum and Instruction Ph.D. at the University of Texas in Austin. I had worked as a high school teacher for ten years before going back to school, so teaching is in my blood. I love one to one tutoring and the ability to create unique learning programs for individual students. By carefully observing how a student learns and the knowledge level they have attained, I can design a comprehensive learning plan with reachable and realistic goals that will entertain and engage them. Engaging a student is the key to growth and performance improvement. If a student isn't engaged they can't focus, and a new learning opportunity is missed. I tutor in the areas of Advanced Placement, College Essays, Essay Editing, Grammar and Mechanics, Literature, Writing, Gifted, Study Skills and Organization, and English. I also do test preparation for the GRE and ACT. I enjoy doing yoga, reading, traveling, and walking my dog.
