Hi, I'm Rachel. I have my Bachelor of Arts from Duke University. I majored in Public Policy Studies and minored in Cultural Anthropology and History. I also have my Master of Science in Social Work from The University of Texas at Austin.I have experience tutoring and teaching people of all ages and academic levels. While I was in high school and college, I volunteered to help elementary and middle school students that struggled with reading and math. I also spent a year working with high schoolers, coaching them in prepping for the ACT, SAT, and STAAR exams. I also helped them apply to college and apply for scholarships. I am most passionate about working with students in writing and test prep. However, I can tutor in a wide variety of courses such as social sciences, math, and language arts. When I am helping students prep for tests, I take it as a chance to expand their knowledge. I give them the strategies and confidence they need to take on any test. When I tutor in grammar and writing, I can clearly explain the concepts because I have strong communication skills.No matter what subject I tutor in, I am calm, warm, friendly, and positive. I firmly believe that students are more successful when they have a fun, caring, and stable learning environment. In my spare time, I am a medical social worker for special needs children. I also enjoy traveling, hiking, and spending time with friends and family
