Private tutor in Austin, TX
California State University, Bakersfield - BS, History (Political Science Minor)
I made the decision when I was still in high school to become a teacher, and there is nothing I enjoy more than helping a child to become proficient in writing, reading, analytic skills, and history. A graduate of California State University in Bakersfield, I have a bachelor's degree in History, with a minor in Political Science, and am continuing my studies at Texas State. There, I am working on my master's in Comparative European and Middle Eastern History. After that, I plan to go for my PhD at the University of Texas. It is the one-on-one experience of tutoring that I most enjoy. By reviewing an essay or a paper a student has written for school and discussing changes that might make it better, I find that I can effectively encourage the student to rewrite it for a higher grade. Subjects that I tutor include AP courses in Biology, Psychology, European, U.S., and World History, Government, Human Geography, and English. I have also been very successful preparing students for standard testing and college placement exams. I design my sessions based on the student's age and individual learning style. In my spare time, I enjoy kayaking, playing chess, listening to music, and reading.
