Experience

I enjoy tutoring chemistry, biology, and preparation for the SAT verbal exam. I received my B.S. Degree in Biology from Cornell University, specializing in Neurobiology and Behavior. I have a passion for science; as an undergraduate, I worked at a lab researching drosophila with seizure mutations as part of a project that used fruit flies to gain insights into epilepsy in humans. I also worked as a medical scribe after studying to achieve EMT certification. In college I gained valuable experience by becoming a teaching assistant in the Prison Education Program that's run by Cornell University. My view about learning is that students should never be discouraged if their learning pace is slower than that of other people. Everyone has strengths that are there, just waiting to be discovered, nurtured, and supported. Early in my freshman year at Cornell, I joined the Boxing Club. I wanted to challenge myself, as I've never really had much athletic talent. My progress was very slow and terribly frustrating. Yet, I kept trying, and eventually became the president of the club. The lesson I learned was that dedication gets results. Using a supportive tutoring style, I've been able to help many students get through struggles similar to the one I experienced.
