My name is Tyler Walker, and helping students learn is my passion. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA. In the future, I would like to return to school and complete a master's degree in ESL education.I tutor in several subjects, including algebra, biology, ESL/ELL, essay editing, grammar and mechanics, literature, phonics, public speaking, reading, writing, and psychology. My particular areas of interests are math and English, but I enjoy them all, especially seeing the looks on my students' faces when they finally understand a problem or troublesome concept. In addition to tutoring, I have been a counselor for the YMCA.I receive great satisfaction from guiding students through various subjects. I help them develop their abilities so that they can solve complex problems that previously seemed impossible to them, or find new angles in text that they had not seen in their reading. These newly developed abilities lead them to being able to independently create the study strategies that work best for them. To me, arming my students with these abilities is success. I currently reside in Austin, TX, and when I'm not teaching, I enjoy music, movies, cooking, and, of course, reading.
