Private tutor in Austin, TX
American University - BA, International Relations , University of Texas at Austin - PhD, Middle Eastern Studies
I spent a decade on the East Coast, and I am stoked to be relocating back home to Austin, TX. I am pursuing a PhD in Middle Eastern Literature from the University of Texas in Austin. I traveled to Istanbul, Turkey for a couple of years after graduation to teach Writing and Reading at a college there. After I returned to America, I taught Arabic, Spanish, and French at a rad new Brooklyn school of language. I am passionate about literature and foreign languages, and I grab every chance I can to take the subject matter outside of the school room. For example, I have been known to go to French cheese tastings, Spanish scavenger hunts, or Arabic window shopping. I believe writing and reading skills can improve in your native language as you come learn a foreign language. I enjoy tutoring individuals in French, Arabic, Spanish, Writing, and Reading. Whether answering questions on vocabulary on the SAT test or ordering a food item in Arabic, language is about stepping back and comprehending the tools of communication you use to work with. When I am not learning everything that there is about medieval poetry, you will find me enjoying the backyard mini-farm we have and biking around Austin.
