Education

Universtiy of Texas at Austin - BA, Spanish/ Latin American Studies Minor in Italian

Experience

Experience: I am currently a Spanish teacher at Pflugerville ISD where I teach AP Spanish and Spanish 1. As a teacher, I know that all students have different learning styles (Kinesthetic, auditory, visual, presentational, intrapersonal, etc) and that is something that I always take into account when designing my lessons. Learning a language should feel natural and not obligatory and tedious. As a Spanish teacher I am well acquainted with the expectations that other teachers have on students and I know how to work with students of different cultural and ethnic backgrounds. The reason as to why I want to be a tutor is because I love helping students that want to learn a new language (or improve their language skills) and because there is absolutely nothing more satisfying than seeing the progress of your student(s). Classes I have taught: AP Spanish Spanish 1 Spanish 2 Spanish 1 for Native Speakers

Hobbies

Hobbies/Interests: Reading, Writing, Learning languages ( I am currently learning Italian), Outside activities, travelling. A little about myself: I was born and raised in Mexico and moved to the US at the age of 13. I must accept that the transition was a little hard at first but over time I started getting used to the language and culture. It was probably this experience that led me to want to become a language teacher. Having experienced how frustrating it can be to learn a new language I can relate to my students and understand that I, as the instructor, must always be patient with them and seek different learning styles, as not every student learns the same way or at the same rate.
