Private tutor in Austin, TX
University of Massachusetts Amherst - BS, Communications , Johns Hopkins University - MS, Education
My role as a teacher began as an undergrad, and now I tutor middle school and elementary math, English, reading, public speaking, history, and test preparation. My passion for education and forging personal relationships is why I'm a great tutor. Academic achievement has always been my source of pride. I share that enthusiasm with engaging strategies and forming positive interpersonal relationships. Learning is a complex process. It involves more than study materials. A positive learning environment, in or out of the classroom, makes it exciting which makes grasping difficult concepts easier. When teaching, I infuse energy and empathy. Simple challenges like the work being "boring" or "too hard" can be overcome. I like to guide students in achieving goals. That's why I'm in education and tutoring lets me put energy into helping kids succeed.I completed my undergrad studies at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where I was a Teacher's Assistant to a film professor. Later, I became a corp member of Teach for America Hawaii and spent six weeks teaching 6th grade math in Phoenix, Arizona. I taught 1st grade in Pahala, Hawaii for two years afterward. When not working, I like art, reading, camping, soccer, football, and cooking.
