Experience
I am currently a student at UT Austin where I hope to acquire my degree in petroleum engineering. I have several years of tutoring experience. I have tutored students of all ages in math and sciences. However, the majority of my tutoring work has dealt with standardized testing preparation, high school math, and high school science. Unfortunately, both math and science have bad reputations. This is possibly due to the fact that both of the subjects can be confusing, complicated, and challenging to learn. However, they are often taught in an ineffective memorization style of teaching. Instead of simply memorizing material, students need to understand and fully comprehend the process that was used to figure out the answer to questions. This is where I come in. I do not want my students to just study a memorization chart day in and day out. Instead, I want them to understand the hows and whys of the process. This turns learning the material from complex to logical. My main goal is to have students fully grasp the material that I am teaching. Once the student comprehends the material, all that's left is a bit of practice and then improved results are sure to follow.
