For the past five years, I have taught math to students ranging from kindergarten through 8th grade. My students also cover a wide range of ability levels and socioeconomic backgrounds. This work has confirmed my belief that every child can learn if the instruction and pacing is adapted to his or her needs. When introducing a new skill, I first attempt to illustrate its real world applications, as students tend to learn better when they have a meaningful context for the material. Then, I break the material into manageable pieces. I connect well with students and keep the lines of communication open, and I have a genuine passion for the material. I really enjoy putting these skills to work for young students. I currently offer tutoring in math, ranging from elementary level through algebra. When I'm not teaching, I like to play ultimate Frisbee, sing, write, play Magic the Gathering, and work Sudoku puzzles.
