Education
I am native to Austin, Texas, a cultural melting pot of languages and nationalities. After graduating early from high school, I moved to Buenos Aires, Argentina, where both my parents are from. After seven months, I completed an advanced Level 4 Spanish course at the University of Buenos Aires and was often mistaken for a local. I returned to Austin to attend the University of Texas Austin. During that time, I completed an advanced Spanish language course with an "A". Later, I finished my Bachelor of Arts in Latin American Studies and Geography (GPA 3.75) doing a study abroad exchange in Belo Horizonte, Brazil at UFMG (Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais). In addition, I have over two years of independent travel experience throughout Spanish-speaking Latin America.
Experience
I believe in a few essential components that enable success in learning a second language. It necessary to have a comfortable learning environment where it feels okay to do something new, to make mistakes, and to have fun. It is also essential that the lesson is engaging, relevant to real life experience, and caters to the individual's interests. Add a personable tutor that loves what they teach, and voila! I love to share the richness of the Spanish language because I believe in the power of communication as a bridge between people. Speaking another language has been one of the most valuable tools in my life and I’m eager to encourage and help others acquire the skill. I am a certified Berlitz tutor and now have over a year of tutoring experience to students between the ages of 3 and 20 years old. I love getting to know people and sharing my knowledge about the Spanish language and where it is spoken. I am currently teaching in pre-schools across town through the Mariposas Spanish School and help clients in private tutoring during spare time.
