I am a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley with a bachelor's degree in philosophy, and am now attending Columbia University to pursue my master's degree in social work. I have worked with students of all demographics and ages. I began my career working in a day program for both adults and children with developmental disabilities. I also have experience working with high-risk students in after-school programs and individual sessions. Right now I tutor students both online and in-person, and work with kindergarten through 12th grade students at an emergency shelter.Since everyone learns at a different pace and in their own way, I tutor in a very individualized way from a holistic viewpoint. I personalize a plan for each student, and focus on using a student's strengths in order to teach a subject. This provides a student with more confidence and helps to achieve our successes faster. My purpose as a teacher is to provide each student with a strong skill set to enable the student to complete the work on their own.I am able to tutor in most forms of English reading and writing, from basic comprehension to college-level paper writing. I am best at papers that use APA format, philosophical argumentative papers, and research writing. I also am willing to help with skills to improve formatting, outlining, and editing.
