Private tutor in Austin, TX
University of Michigan-Ann Arbor - Bachelors, Civil and Environmental Engineering , Stanford University - Masters, Civil and Environmental Engineering
I earned my graduate degree from Stanford University in civil and environmental engineering. I began my career in tutoring by helping students who were preparing to take the science and math portions of the GRE. I have gone on to tutor high school and middle school students in the same subjects. I currently tutor algebra 1 & 2, calculus 1 & 2, geometry, elementary math, middle school math, trigonometry, arithmetic, algebra 3/4, civil and environmental engineering, environmental science, pre-algebra, discrete math, science, and quantitative reasoning. I have also continued tutoring students who are preparing for quantitative or verbal portions of the GRE. My experience as a tutor has cultivated a teaching style that is minimalistic but effective. First, I take the time to get to know my student so I am better able to gauge their academic strengths and weaknesses. This also gives me the opportunity to discover their learning style as well as their academic goals and life objectives. This then allows me to make the most effective plan of study for the individual students. I find it rewarding and enjoyable to find new and innovative ways to break down the most complex of subjects into easily accessible portions that students are able to master.
