Experience
I've tutored math/science and taught private music lessons since I was 11 - more than 20 years ago! I have taught mid-sized groups of kids from 6-12 grade and college. While employed with Cummins Inc, I volunteered at elementary schools facilitating hands on STEM projects, such as aerodynamics and electronic circuit modules. I've had the opportunity to teach small groups coding and engine performance as well. Honestly, there are very few things in life that get me as excited as when I get the opportunity to share my knowledge with someone else. I have a strong passion for math and science, which is contagious. When I learn something new and cool, I just have to share it! I love machines, big and small. How they work. Their history. How they could be improved. I've always loved space-travel, and I had the privilege of working for NASA, designing the cooling system for the next-generation of Mars rover cameras. For Cummins, the largest diesel engine manufacturer, I gained a deep appreciation for working on complex systems as an expert in improving performance, emissions, and reliability. Also for Cummins, I did a lot of public speaking in the forms of presentations, teaching, and recruiting and I really enjoyed it. All of my experiences have taught me one thing: I want to do more teaching! I'm patient, I connect well with people of all walks of life, and as a father of three, I absolutely love kids.
