The University of Texas at Austin - Bachelors, Psychology and Plan II Honors
I earned my undergraduate degree in psychology from the University of Texas. During my studies I also had a special interest in biology so I elected to minor in that field. As a student I worked with incoming freshmen as a peer adviser, I served as the editor for a research journal and the college's literary journal, and I tutored beginning students in Mandarin Chinese. Upon graduation I began tutoring students from China who were working on their English language skills. I am currently pursuing a graduate degree in social work that will allow me to continue on the path of service and learning which I so enjoy. I've now had more than five years of combined teaching and tutoring experience and I've learned just how important it is to make learning something the students look forward to rather than having it simply become part of their dreaded daily routine. I currently tutor students in a wide variety of subjects, including reading, writing, essay editing, English grammar and Syntax, psychology, high school and college English, comparative literature, conversational Mandarin, Mandarin Chinese 1, and social studies. I also work extensively with students who are studying for an upcoming exam such as the ACT, SAT, SSAT, PSAT, HSPT, and GRE.
