Johnathan R.
Private tutor in Austin, TX
Education
I graduated from Cornell University with a degree in Operations Research Engineering, before working in finance for five years. I recently graduated from Columbia Business School and now work as a Consultant.
Experience
I've tutored more than 60 students, for 600 hours of instruction, in Dallas, New York, and Austin high school and college curricula. At Cornell I was asked to consult for Cornell's Learning Strategies Center, where I taught Calculus and Statistics for 2 years. I scored in the 99th percentile on ACT Math, SAT Math and GRE Quantitative sections. I scored 5/5 on Calculus and Statistics AP exams. Students are often taught 'how' to attack problems with memorization, but rarely the 'why' behind the method of attack. All students can learn math 'tricks,' those who understand the 'why' can invent them. To this end I teach. I tutor because it It's challenging and it's fun! I look forward to hearing from you.
